Stanley Furniture has introduced a second collection targeted to a younger adult consumer. Six months ago, their Moondance collection was one of the hits of the market. This time, the group of note is called Midnight Sun, and it’s a knock out.
Architectural and sleek, with asymmetrical and cantilevered silhouettes, this line is a well-designed and functional entry into the rising category of products that are styled, priced and scaled for a first home or apartment. The focus here is not on decorations or embellishments. Instead, its flair comes from form. Favorite pieces:
- A bed with footboard that houses a plasma TV—it lifts up to the right height for watching while lounging, then swivels so you can still see it while you get dressed
- The cantilevered wood coffee table that is not only asymmetrical, but the thickness of the wood for each of three shelves varies, with the bottom shelf the thickest and the top shelf thinner
The collection includes many more pieces that are just as clever, and not at all contrived. If you are in High Point, you need to see this. See Stanley Furniture at IHFC C1158.
