The interest in unique form is fully apparent at the High Point International Furniture Market. One of my favorite new shapes this time came from a bed in Thomasville’s Bogart Luxe collection (think Humphrey Bogart), just introduced this week.
The bed begins with a style familiar from the 1980’s, where the bed and nightstands are a single unit. Then the modification to form begins, transforming the style from functional to fancy. The headboard curves gracefully from the top, sloping downward until it wraps around the back and side of each of the two oval nightstands attached to the bed. The result is a classic Art Deco shelter bed that gives a sense of being held in an embrace. This is a wonderful piece that deserves lots of attention.
