Luxury Pet Products in High Point

March 28, 2007 By Michelle Lamb -

I never really intended to fall in love with our Bischon Frise, Winston. I just thought I could find a way to live with him for the sake of the kids. Yet a year or so after we got him from Southwest Metro Animal Rescue, I was head over heels for this little white dog and I keep tumbling harder with each passing year. The result is that I have gone from believing that people who adore their pets are ridiculous to understanding completely why someone would pay more to give their beloved dog or cat organic food, dress them warmly in the winter or buy them a stylish bed. I have also become a sucker for great pet products, as anyone who reads this blog regularly already knows.

I saw some really fabulous pieces this week at the High Point furniture market from Rani Arabella, showing at the Suites at Market Square. This company offered a collection of pet couture furniture and accessories that stopped me in my tracks. Coats for small dogs only, made entirely of Italian cashmere, were beautifully colored and had a hand that felt absolutely delicious. But the feeders and beds made of Lucite® pushed the luxury quotient even higher.

Imagine a square Lucite® bed that is clear or printed with a Liberty of London pattern. Now add a therapeutic foam mattress and cover it in another Liberty of London pattern and you have the Chill Out Bed. Make the bed an oval and accent the Lucite® with aluminum, and you have the UFO bed. The cost? From $2,000 – $3,000, depending on the model.

Sorry, Winston!
