The newest fabric texture isn’t really new at all. Moiré effects have been off the trend radar since the 1980’s. But at the recent Showtime textiles market, P. Kaufmann brought this look back in a range of solid colors and as a ground for a tree-of-life pattern. The response from upholstery-fabric buyers has been positive.
There is a growing interest in texture, and it is sweeping across all materials and categories of home décor. That trend is what opened the door to moiré’s return, and what could make it a viable option going forward.
Are you glad to see this retro look coming back, or will you leave moiré behind in favor of other textures?
