When I have spent so much time on the road I always feel energized on the day I head back home. Today is that day.
After speaking at Showcase in Dublin and leading their Lifestyle trend area, trend-tracking at Christmas World in Frankfurt and enveloping myself in the trends at Maison & Objet in Paris I am finally heading back to the Twin Cities. Once back at my desk, I will work on Trend Albums for a day (we will release CD-ROM trend reports from Christmas World and Maison & Objet as fast as I can get them written; Email Janice if you would like to pre-order), then move on to the Las Vegas Market, where I am walking the show for one day, then speaking on February 1.
With a schedule like that, I think it’s important to keep a sense of humor. Seeing whimsical and fun product at the shows helps me do that. This is especially true when my feet hurt or my back aches from carrying too many press kits and CD’s. But with so many great products, how could I turn down information?
One of my favorite companies for fun product at Maison & Objet appeared in the new Building 7. This was the first time I have visited the stand of Borek Sipek, but I know I will look for them again at the September fair. Their designer created a glass cup and saucer fused together into one piece, and a half-plate for the table that works right into a conventional table setting. I think they will make you smile!
