No matter how much I love visiting the best cities of Europe, I am always glad to get back to home and family. I returned from the Maison & Objet trade fair yesterday, but thoughts of the fair are still swirling around in my mind. I am thinking about changes I saw in every color family, the new order of materials dominance, what made finishes look fresh and which motifs were cycling forward and falling back. There was so much going on in Paris!
All my observations from three days of trend spotting at this important Paris trade fair are being debriefed into my laptop and organized, after which I select supporting images. Then I send everything to our graphic design team so they can create the layout for Trend Album™: Maison & Objet, September 2007. The format features trend headlines and bullet point descriptions, plus several images that best show the newness for each topic, in a CD-ROM e-book. I never select fewer than 100 images for any Trend Album.
Putting it all together takes time and concentration, but I am working as fast as I can. That’s because our subscriber family has told us that they want to know the trends from this show quickly. If you subscribe to The Trend Curve, you already have my Trend Flash™ from the fair. (Trend Flash is sent via email to every current subscriber to The Trend Curve™ with information about top line trends from not only this event, but every other market and trade fair we attend – and that’s about 30 each year). You can also read more about Paris in the October issue of The Trend Curve.
And for even more detail and lots more pictures, consider our Trend Album from this event. You can pre-order by contacting Janice by email or calling 800.531.6614. I hope to have all the exciting news from Paris ready to ship in a couple of weeks.
