At the Showtime textiles market, companies were focused on geometrics. In fact, nothing was hotter or selling better that geometric patterns and weaves. Yet, countertrends also flourished, including damask designs.
Along with watercolor looks, Jacobean florals (still growing) and paisleys (read more about paisleys in the upcoming issue of The Trend Curve), damasks confirmed that softer and more-traditional elements are ramping up for a larger role in 2015. Not only that, but some of them are showing up with interesting color and texture updates that make this classic motif feel new again:
- Circa 1801 used trend-right red-cast purple
- Covington’s framed damask was also distressed
- Home Fabrics took an abstract, pixelated point of view
- JB Martin favored mushroom brown, which they say is growing
- Damasks woke up with Nicolette Mayer’s bright hues
- Patara Silks added metallic touches
- Sunbury’s damask came in a red-cast blue
- Vision Fabrics took a modern, digital approach
