SOFA is the sculpture objects functional art and design show that took place in November at Chicago’s Navy Pier. At the 2014 event, Editorial Correspondent Elaine Markoutsas saw how recycled materials were being used in elevated ways that brought them into the artisan realm. Here are her three top recycled art pieces from SOFA:
Skateboards painted by George Peterson were graphic and relevant in palette, some with snips of mustard and cinnamon.
Julia Barello‘s Tulip sculpture was made from recycled-and-dyed X-ray film.
A curlicue brooch by Lauren Tickle was found to be made with 32 one-dollar bills.
