The Trend Curve has been talking about an overall warming of color for the past year. New hues introduced at the Showtime upholstery textiles market confirm that direction. They also suggest that this trend may be headed for an extreme as reds come into the picture.
Reds will be hot, beginning in 2016 and moving into 2017. The first reds to get noticed will be warm and coral inspired. Some of them will appear with rustier mid-tones (think Cottage Rose from The Trend Curve Colors™ 2017). Others will prefer darker companions (like Red Toboggan, also from our 2017 color forecast). And still other duos will want the darkest possible values as companions (Appliqué Red, another 2017 color, is a perfect example). All this growth for reds will come as the analogous-color trend that is already having a major impact on blues broadens to include the red family.
By the time 2017 is over, reds will enjoy full trend status once again. Here are a few of the new reds appearing at Showtime. Be sure to check out some of the textures that will make the analogous-color trend increasingly interesting. Click on the circle for the vendor name to appear.
