One category that is becoming more important to tabletop manufacturers is cookware. While some vendors have already tapped into the cookware category, new ones are exploring this area to offer extensions to existing dinnerware collections. That allows the end consumer to have a complete set that takes them from the oven to the table.
Portmeirion introduced new cast aluminum cookware from its Sophie Conran collection. And new bakeware was introduced to the Sunny Days collection from Thomas. What sets these collections apart from traditional cookware is that the patterns are the same as the dinnerware, so one can easily bring the pot directly to the table from the oven. It is stylish and coordinates with the rest of the table.
Vendors will continue to look at new categories and elements to keep their brands interesting and relevant. One thing to recognize is that tabletop is not just about the table. It’s about lifestyle. And that is how vendors will look at this category.
