Here are Elaine’s top trends in porcelain tile (unless otherwise noted):
COLOR
- Marsala, Bordeaux and Florentine reds looked familiar, yet also fresh and modern
- Blush and dusty rose advanced the Millennial Pink theme
- Apricot and terra cotta offered a tamped-down take on orange
- Saffron and coral had a notice-me vibe
- Green was very much in play
- Denim showed another wave of incoming love
- Browns never went dark
MATERIALS
- Large-format porcelains came in stone, wood, steel or watercolor looks
- 3D was impressive, with ribbing, projections and appliqués
- Dimension was a factor for metal tiles
- Real wood competed with bold, colorful stains and patterns
- Inlaid brass or steel strips showed plenty of style
FINISHES
- Matte ruled, especially in chalky hues
- An almost pearlescent sheen emerged
- Gloss hung around; it was strong in tandem with no-shine looks
- Warm metallics remained a force
- Industrial concrete looked chic with relief
- Ombrés gave solid-color porcelains more interest
