COLOR
– Brights and especially neon hues increased from last year
– Neon pink and orange stood out more than neon green or yellow
– Blue, green and yellow were teamed often in bright or saturated personalities
– Dark and blackened hues looked fresh accenting intense personalities
– Dark purple and midnight blue were top choices
– Washed-out shades of taupe, gray, and putty felt inspired by nature
FORMS AND MOTIFS
– Barnacles and spiky thorns or needles were incoming favorites for natural motifs
– Microscopy played with scale, blowing up cells or molecules, and showing cross
sections of plants
– Established icons like skulls and birds got an update from tiny scale
– Cosmic themes, like the Milky Way and Black Holes, emerged
– 3D Cubes and spheres evolved beyond 2D squares and circles
– Even 2-dimensional pieces played with exaggerated perspective
MATERIALS
– Oxidized sterling silver was a show favorite
– Gold and silver followed closely
– Over-sized crystals gave way to clusters of tiny jewels and pearls
– Wood looked best unstained, using only naturally occurring shades
– Chemical-free finishes, like beeswax/natural oils, punctuated a growing desire
for all-natural elements
– Attention for recycled and reused materials really gained momentum
