COLOR
- Layered neutrals were up front in many showrooms
- Oyster was the neutral on everyone’s lips
- It worked well with the multiple browns that were growing fast
- Navy had new mojo
- Spruce was a new, warm, mid-tone blue that worked in everyday and Holiday assortments
- Pink was in he mainstream
- Purple influences freshened grays
MATERIALS AND TEXTURES
- Wood was still having a moment
- Raw cork looked great in vases and vessels
- Faux fur was updated with embroidery, gems, sequins for Christmas
- Sequins continued to build for all seasons, but gems were newer
- The audience for gold leaf grew significantly
- The interest in relief, distressed and dragged textures deepened
PATTERNS AND MOTIFS
- A tendency toward loose lines made surface designs feel more artistic
- Dogs showed up everywhere, but directional companies revealed requests for cats
- Artist-rendered landscapes, especially European ones, returned
- Coastal and seaside motifs got filled in, or they layered over another pattern or texture
- Dots stepped up, especially for Holiday products
- Goats were new in multiple stands
