COLOR
- Blues raced ahead, except for navy
- Complex denim and slate mid-tones meant the most
- Gray—now warming—was blue’s constant companion
- Dull golds moved ahead
- Soft pink did its best to be noticed, while red was a virtual no-show
- Sari brights looked dated
MATERIALS AND TEXTURES
- Intentional aging, fading, erasing provided the newest looks
- Braided rugs got an update from mixed scales
- Distinct fringe and decorative binding had incoming status
- Lurex made modest gains
- Burn-out techniques were newly used for wool
- Long-pile shag inched ahead
PATTERNS AND MOTIFS
- Traditional patterns done in modern colors advanced
- Asymmetry hit the mainstream
- So did abstract imagery
- Gradients nudged two-tone looks aside
- Jacobean florals had a role
- Borderless designs continued to gain favor
- Chevrons and Moroccan geometrics declined dramatically
