- Black updated everything, including traditional Christmas themes
- Complex and warmer than mint, mid-tone green was growing fast
- Dark denim debuted in multiple stands
- Blush color stories expanded to include pink, rose and sometimes burgundy
- Brown advanced in craft-paper, taupe and bronze hues
- Gold metallic had exploded since last year
MATERIALS AND TEXTURES
- Wood stood out in many different looks
- Metal preferred detailed personalities
- Paper got lots of attention
- Glass looked best with textural elements
- From fine to coarse, glitter became the top texture/embellishment
- Sequins took off
- Iridescence was directional
ICONS AND THEMES
- Words won the top spot for surface design in Frankfurt
- Geometrics went graphic
- Wild animals suggested an African Modern theme
- Photo realistic looks experienced a multiplier effect since last time
- Plaids worked like key punctuation marks
- Tropical and seaside looks kept popping up
