Michelle Lamb, Editorial Director for The Trend Curve, was at the Holiday and Home Expo in Dallas, where she was trend spotting gifts, Holiday decor, and permanent floral. Her top-line trends are below. For more details about this event, please read the next issue of The Trend Curve.

Most important in Dallas:

COLOR
– White made its biggest permanent floral statement in years
– Light Greens were revitalized
– Blues came on strong
– This was especially true of Red-cast types
– Pink kept showing up in cool, Blue-cast shades
– Purples made an impact for Christmas
– They also trended up for permanent floral

TEXTURE AND STYLE
– Crackle finishes were great
– So was anything with a galvanized-metal look
– Weathered and worn looks made wood trend right
– Container gardens continued to advance
– Companies were creating tropical arrangements with everything but orchids
– Hydrangeas did not lose their popularity
– Roses, however, backed off again

MOTIFS AND THEMES
– Birds were more important than ever
– Birdcages joined in
– Nests even appeared in floral arrangements
– Herbs emerged in key showrooms
– Postmarks had more status
– So did anything with a French Country flavor
