Trend Flash™ Dallas Holiday & Home Expo

June 21, 2013 By Trend Staff -

dallas-mkt-ctrMichelle Lamb, Editorial Director for The Trend Curve, was in Dallas to look at new spring seasonal collections at the Holiday & Home Expo. Her top trends are below:

COLOR
–  Black-and-white duos were out in force
–  That said, black was key on its own
–  Denim-influenced blues meant more
–  Mixed brights (pink, red, orange, yellow) led permanent floral design
–  Gold advanced in the metallic realm
–  Copper metallic emerged

MATERIALS AND DETAILS
–  Burlap, while strong, started giving way to cotton
–  Driftwood had many more uses
–  Painted and decorated Styrofoam meant more
–  Flock hinted at a larger role for next time
–  Lace showed up more often
–  Buttons made a return

PATTERNS AND MOTIFS
–  Ditsy florals surged
–  So did 70’s-inspired Mod florals
–  Crosses were everywhere
–  Bees kept building
–  Overtly religious sayings pushed sentiments in a new direction
–  Lambs mean more for spring/Easter than they have in years
