Here are the top kitchen trends revealed at this important biennial fair, where blurred lines between kitchen and living spaces dominated the scene. Color
- Neutrals came alive with tonal and textural nuances
- Black stared in cabinetry, counters, faucets, mostly matte but with sparkle in black chrome
- Rosy terra cotta was directional, indicating a modern Tuscan edge
- Orange became a tangy accent, sometimes inside cabinets
- Chrome yellow and citrus pops awakened cabinetry in important ways
- Green extended its reach, especially in olive and apple
- Blue calmed with lavender or green casts, and energized in Aegean hues
Finishes
- Burnished brass was hot, while bronze grew modestly
- Brushed stainless steel took on subtle patterning for interest
- Matte dominated stone/porcelain countertops, as well as cabinet fronts
- Matte colors, not just black, gave prototype appliances fascinating texture
- Lacquered cabinets and select appliances adopted automotive finishes
- Etched, reverse-painted glass extended color and artistry for cabinet doors
- Texture came to concrete with relief-like stamping techniques

- Graffiti brought urban art to range faces
- Robust veining on stone and porcelain cabinet fronts offered a new dynamic
- Book-matching brought a real furniture sensibility to cabinets and counters
