Trends in High Point:

COLOR

  • This market was all about color
  • Purple was still out in force
  • Rusty orange paired with everything
  • People talked about apple green, but minty tones looked fresher
  • Green and Red casts shared the Blue stage
  • Grays blanketed the market with modernity
  • Nevertheless, Browns pushed ahead

TEXTURE AND MATERIALS

  • Luster/metallics were subtle and high-end
  • Shagreen popped up everywhere
  • So did cane
  • Crushed velvet had more to say
  • Black nickel began rising
  • Glass looked great in color/clear combinations

THEMES AND MOTIFS

  • Ethnic elements held center stage
  • The word Glamor returned to people’s lips
  • 60s modern was rising
  • Ikats and kilims meant a lot
  • Missoni-like zigzags kept appearing
  • Scale went way up
