On-trend at KBIS:
COLOR
- Grays dug in with lighter and warmer cabinet options
- Hints of green-influenced browns appeared in wood stains
- The same was true of merlot-tinged browns
- Mixing hardware finishes was catching on for doors and drawers
- Warmer finishes were trending for faucets, including advancing copper
- Bronzes and black remained popular for faucets with drama
TEXTURES AND MATERIALS
- Veneers with metallic sparkle paralleled furniture trends at Maison & Objet
- Some cabinetmakers cited “Restoration Hardware” weathered looks
- Incoming: the horizontal graining now popular in Europe
- Pull-down kitchen faucets debuted pleating, alluding to fabric
- Glass artist Tony Devlin’s tiles were crafted from paper-thin-sliced fruits and vegetables
FUNCTIONALITY
- Moving islands began to tuck under
- Retractable countertops offered practical, space-saving options
- Soft-close drawers became a standard, rather than a luxury option
- Ditto for touch/open and close pull downs
- First Droid-controlled wall oven will text you when dinner’s ready
- French-door wall oven opened both sides by touching one door
