- A mixed-media approach often took the place of pattern
- Geometrics got much less strict
- Watercolor and other softening effects advanced
- Tropical leaves appeared in shape and pattern
- Lace influences were seen in patterns, materials, textures
- Flamingos showed up in (lots of) surprising places
