COLOR
– A new, soft rose feminized the color landscape.
– Green was back, especially mint
– White cleaned the slate for fresh and contrasted color
– Oxblood red was new, rich and directional
– Softened taupes gained momentum
– Shades of rope, mud, nettle and jute offered chameleon attributes with dimension
MATERIALS AND TEXTURES
– Marble made a trend statement, especially Carrera
– Rose gold and soft copper showed up everywhere
– Still, gold was the biggest metal story
– Cable, wire and string advanced
– Top wood types focused on walnut, beech and pine
– Particle board looked natural or color-washed in black, white or red
– Natural-colored cork brought accessories and accent furniture up-to-date
CONCEPTS
– Relief motifs were highlighted when entire walls came with dimension
– Color Blocking recalled the mid century
– Damask motifs provided a returning counter trend
– Ombré effects had lots of play
– Food inspired both furniture design and color direction
– Needlepoint/giant-gauge knits suggested South American or Eastern European craft
– Origami returned to influence textiles, lighting and more
