Trends in Milan:
COLOR
- Electric neons in citron and fuchsia pushed the boundaries of bright
- Intense coral, sunshine yellow, cobalt signaled a sophisticated, playful direction
- Cotton-candy pastels confirmed a nostalgic return to sweet childhood memories
- Water-inspired blues moved toward turquoise
- Yellow, a chameleon color, went greener in a shift that updated this family
- Neutrals, from cement to mixed shades of sand, were accented with pale melon
MATERIALS & TEXTURES
- Vintage flea-market porcelain mixed with crafted, hand-blown glass
- Modular seating, made with 100-percent green honeycomb board, looked functional, graphic
- Puffer-jacket-inspired fabric created voluminous upholstery on furniture
- Molded foam seating in rounded retro shapes felt fun and whimsical
- Multi-colored, tinted wood appeared on tables and cabinets
- Chunky knit leather assembled into chairs
PATTERN & MOTIF
- Origami-inspired folded geometrics appeared on lampshades and metal chairs
- Classic Redouté botanical rose prints were right for 60’s molded chairs
- Color blocking, inspired by Mondrian and the Memphis movement, made a statement
- Words continued, screen printed or woven on fabric
- Candy-themed furniture and lamps evoked licorice, candy beads and lollipops
- A multi colored mix of patterns had hard-edged geometrics, swirls, and dots
