COLOR
- White-plus-clear or chrome made a strong entry in the contemporary realm
- Clean pink was everywhere
- Even orange seemed to have pink influences, as it softened and warmed
- Saturated, sherbet tones replaced neon brights
- Navy was rising
- Lime gave way to a fresh version of avocado in key stands
MATERIALS AND TEXTURES
- Melamine tabletop got a boost, even at the high end
- Cowhide advanced, especially paired with neutral materials
- Jute rope covered decorative-accessory surfaces
- Bead strands worked like dense 70’s shag on cushion-surface designs
- Natural linen remained surprisingly strong
- Shells combined with crystals
THEMES AND MOTIFS
- Simplification informed surface designs in every theme
- Stylized and flat characteristics made florals look new
- Simple geometric came under the influence of ikats
- Quatrefoil motifs got a modern makeover
- Nautical themes gravitated toward luxe and vintage styles
- Words and phrases continued for now
