COLOR
- Medium-range pastels took more share, especially in prints
- Beigey, oatmeal tones warmed neutral ranges
- Blue came in all shades, but especially denim, indigo and watery types
- Pink hung on in a Scandinavian or romantic way
- Terra cotta and russet advanced, looking great with charcoal
- Warmer greens, from greenery to olive, updated prints
FINISHES
- Matte finishes looked freshest when teamed with gloss
- Matte slate and wood made a handsome couple
- Mixing metallic into reactive glazes looked dramatic
- Ribbed borders or allover motifs stood out in relief techniques
- Etching, rose-y golds and iridescence signatured the best new flatware
- Etching and textures also added dimension to barware
- Mottled metal with color was an engaging entry in barware
PATTERNS AND MOTIFS
- Speckles and dots infused tableware with a playful spirit
- Tile patterns influenced geometric designs
- Stripes got edgier, freeform or with hand-printed expressions
- Painterly florals were realistic, exploded or stylized
- Nature remained an organic muse, with leaves from gingko to oak
- Sea life of all kinds had a growing presence
