COLOR
– Indigo was the color name on everyone’s lips
– Fuchsia got more attention
– So did copper, as a color more than a metallic
– Mushroom browns had more visibility than grays
– Black/white was prevalent to the point of boring
– Emerging: butterscotch
MATERIALS AND TEXTURES
– Velvet and velvet looks had lots of buzz
– Linen still mattered, but less than before
– Embroidered looks inched ahead
– Pleated techniques kept popping up
– Quilting had new support
– That said, distressed/weathered/scraped were newer
THEMES AND MOTIFS
– Glamor surged along with metallic influences
– Mid-century looks gave way to mod inspiration
– Global trends suggested Native American looks to come
– Animal skins appeared in every collection
– Jacobean and paisley patterns advanced
– Botanical florals hinted at a comeback
