At the recent Rug Market at Americasmart in Atlanta, Asian inspiration continued to build. Editorial Correspondent Doug Thayer reports that this look was especially obvious in dragon motifs, both Japanese and Chinese that were fully colored reproductions of prints and tonal transitional interpretations. The Josie Natori Collection from Kalaty was just one example. Designs lifted directly off silk kimonos were seen, as well.
This approach was part of a much-broader trend toward refinement in the marketplace that went across the board in:
- Traditional, transitional and contemporary patterns
- The colors combined to create the patterns
- Yarns and textures used in the constructions
