Desert Neutrals Release

August 20, 2006 By Michelle Lamb -

I am so pleased at the response our Desert Neutrals™ 2007 – 2008 forecast had when we debuted it in Las Vegas last month. That’s when I spent an hour giving a talk about the eight emerging influences I am forecasting for next year and the year following. The first trend revolved around an incoming counter-trend to color.

A few days after my talk at the Las Vegas Market, Desert Neutrals 2007 – 2008 was made available to our subscribers (subscribers to The Trend Curve™ always know about new products first and can often pre-order them). Since that time, sales of the 20 tints and tones featured in the Desert Neutrals package have brought me to the conclusion that the market is ready for this colorful neutral direction that includes four distinct values of Browns, Grays and golden Yellows that border Browns.

More than that, it suggests that the balance between neutrals and color is set to be adjusted. And why not? After so many seasons of color on color, bright on bright, mid-tones played against new deeps, taking a step away from color feels right.

The Glamour trend suggested how this would begin, using the very skin-tones that we forecasted in 2004 (for use in 2006 and 2007) in high-styled vignettes. These Skin-Tone Neutrals™ will continue to play themselves out, working their way to medium price points by the middle of next year. This as Desert Neutrals really begin to get going at the high end. Desert Neutrals provide a logical and compelling evolution that is versatile enough to work not only for Glamour style, but also in Updated Classic settings and in Contemporary rooms.

If you want to know more about our Desert Neutrals 2007 – 2008 forecast, click on the Trend Store link at www.trendcurve.com, then look in the left column, next to the word NEW! Check out the picture of our new Combinations Cards that provide trend-right trios of Desert Neutrals for each of our four ranges (we feel strongly about layered neutrals going forward).

For more about Skin-Tone Neutrals 2006 – 2007, you can still go to the Trend Store, but once there, click on the Clearance link. Or for more on these or any of our products, feel free to call Janice Carlson at 800.531.6614 or email her at Janice @TrendCurve.info.
