A recent influx of new dinosaur films and apps has triggered an increase in the number of dinosaur shapes and motifs emerging for home interiors over the past few months. They have appeared in new products at both domestic and international trade fairs, like NY NOW, Maison & Objet, International Home & Housewares Show, High Point furniture market, Kind & Jugend and the ABC Kids Expo. Product categories include decorative accessories, bedding, cushions, plush toys, throws, hampers, mobiles, wallpaper borders, wall art, placemats, cookie cutters and more. The materials used have been equally diverse, ranging from fabric and paper to wood and silicone.
Although some new products seen at the shows are clearly for adults, dinosaurs have emerged as one of the not new topics for kids. The trend is on-deck for 2016, and it will develop into a major décor direction by the time 2017 arrives. That’s why we included a trend called Dino-Mite in The Trend Curve Colors™ KIDS 2017, our newest color-and-trend forecast.
In addition to 32 hues that have been carefully selected for the kids’ market, TTCC KIDS includes trends targeted to ages from infant and toddler to back-to-school and back-to-college. But Dino-Mite provides bullet-point details and a palette of colors that interprets this trend for preschoolers. That means softer shapes and personalities, and any dinosaur showing their teeth is smiling. Meanwhile, here are a couple of dinosaurs that are right for an older crowd.
