The term faux bois is from the French “false wood.” You may have noticed the look in printed, woven or cut surfaces over the past year or so, as woodgrain-like designs have become one of décor’s go-with-anything companions.
At the recent Showtime textiles market, a new crop of designs with a faux-bois attitude showed how the increasing interest in textures will push more into every pattern. This will take place in 2016 and especially in 2017, which is when consumers will really take notice of the look.
