Because The Trend Curve™ was the first, and is still the only company to create an annual Halloween color and trend forecast, we’ve learned that finding pace-setting trends in this long-ignored, but lucrative area means we need to search like Sherlock Holmes. Halloween and autumn trends don’t all assemble in one trade show or national venue. They’re scattered across the U.S. (and sometimes Europe) like fall leaves. Once gathered, they each have to be individually assessed to fit into a larger cogent picture for the season.
Fall 2013 will be, in large part, about modern updates on classic icons. Witches, for instance, are taking on a whole new persona. Our Coven Couture trend shows the glamorous side of sorceresses, with apparel that’s eye-catching enough to travel from witchy fashion runways to October garden parties.
Skeletons will also enjoy a revival as they become more personified with quirky fashion accessories, or pose in yards doing skeleton-crew maintenance work. You may even spot them enjoying a lively game of croquet or costumed for trick-or-treating.
Even the simple, all-American caramel apple is getting a few new twists, as traditional crushed-nut coatings make way for sweet adornments that add more color than ever before.
