Halloween: The Second Largest Décor Spending Holiday

July 14, 2014 By Janice Carlson -

wicker-manThe Trend Curve was the first—and is still the ONLY—trend agency to create a color-and-trend forecast just for the Halloween and fall season. Because Halloween is the second largest décor-buying holiday all year, this product has been a bestseller for us since we published the first version of Haute Halloween and Fall™ five years ago.

Since then, we have gotten great feedback every year on our palette, which includes 26 colors and 4 metallics in the 2015 version. We love working with these colors, so we provide not only color swatches in two paint-on-paper sizes (to cut up, pin on boards or send to your color suppliers), but recommendations for how to combine those colors for on-trend looks in 2015.

We love creating the trends, too! That’s why our newest Haute Halloween and Fall collection is our largest yet! It’s worth all the effort, though, because, we’ve found that when we do the work of developing these themes, our customers definitely rake in profits!

The 12 new trends for 2015 were inspired by everything from ancient Celtic traditions (Wicker Man) to the modern conveniences enjoyed by today’s witches—think gourmet cooking clubs (Bone Appétite!). You’ll find plenty of other unique themes, including:

  • Africadabra connects Halloween with the African trend that is rising for everyday décor
  • In Alley Cats, black cats morph into big-city icons with uncanny street smarts
  • People of The Dawn focuses not just on the Pilgrims, but on their remarkable Native guests at that first Thanksgiving

You’ll also find fresh spins on classic Halloween topics that consumers want year after year. Ghoulish Goodies, for example, updates the trick-or-treat theme with on-trend sweets. Fall Haul puts apples at the center of the harvest story. Apparitions offers a new approach to the haunted-house.

It’s this kind of innovation that has not only kept our Haute Halloween & Fall forecast going strong for half a decade, but has also helped our customers (and especially Members of our subscriber family) develop profitable assortments for holidays and every day for over 25 years!
